I give you the eclectic awesomeness that is Backini…and if you haven’t heard of him, then you aren’t alone.
The Brighton native’s real name is Rob Quickenden, and he’s a sound engineer as well as a crate digger of much renown.  While most sample based artists hunt for snippets of funk (Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow,) and others go for obscure dance music (The Avalanches,) Backini seems drawn towards the records that no one wants.
The kind of albums that even thrift stores tend to stuff into cardboard boxes and write “Free” on the side.
Backini’s creations are not meant as deep messages or strong statements, according to Rob, but rather what he calls “shallow, throw-away music.” This is due to his fascination with the world of pop music.  And pop is kind of what it is, if pop was constructed from old 78rpm swing music, kids records and other assorted jazz and easy listening records, but what the listener is left with is nothing short of wonderful.  With his engineering background, Rob deftly manages to bring all the sound together in ways that please and amaze.

After releasing a hand-full of acclaimed singles on the newly formed Lumenessence label (most of which can be found as a collection called Backini “Lumenessence” on some P2P networks), Backini released his first full length album in 2003 called “Threads.”

And it’s a really great little album.  The big hit that ended up on a lot of DJ playlists was the war time sampling ‘Company B-Boy,’ which at first listen will explain it’s appeal.  Then you get the moody, interweaving noir of ‘Go Go Killer’ and the spaced “Close Encounters” sampling on ‘Dreamer.’  But you know what?  The rest of the album is pretty damn satisfying as well.

Will Backini “Threads” change your life?  No, but it will live in your iPod, car stereo, or office computer for many days.

Grace is the only complete studio album by Jeff Buckley, released on August 23, 1994. While the album initially had poor sales, peaking at number 149 in the U.S., and received mixed reviews,[1] it gradually acquired critical acclaim and commercial success and, as of 2007, had sold over 2 million copies worldwide and been cited by critics and listeners as one of the greatest albums of all time. An extended version of the album (subtitled "Legacy Edition") celebrating its tenth anniversary was released on August 23, 2004, and it peaked at No. 44 in the UK.

Grace has been highly rated in magazines such as Q, in which readers voted Grace the 75th greatest album of all time in 1998; the same vote was taken again in 2005 and Grace then ranked 13th.[13][14] In 2003, the album was ranked number 303 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.[15] In 2006, Mojo named Grace the No. 1 Modern Rock Classic of all Time.[16] It was also rated as Australia's second favourite album on My Favourite Album, a television special aired by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on December 3, 2006.[17] In 2003, Buckley's version of "Hallelujah" was ranked No. 259 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest songs of all time.[18] VH1 also rated the album No. 73 on its "100 Greatest Albums of Rock & Roll" show/list.[19] David Bowie considered Grace to be the best album ever made, and had said it would be one of his ten "Desert Island Records."[20]

In 2006, British Hit Singles & Albums and NME organised a poll of which, 40,000 people worldwide voted for the 100 best albums ever and Grace was placed at No. 23 on the list.[21]
In 2012, Radio Eksen, a Turkish radio channel ranked Grace No. 3 in its list named Last 20 Year's Best Albums.
On 2 April 2014 it was announced that Buckley's version of Hallelujah will be inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry.[22]
In July 2014, Guitar World ranked Grace at number 26 in their "Superunknown: 50 Iconic Albums That Defined 1994" list.[23]
Grace re-entered the albums chart in Australia at number 44 for the week of January 29 – February 5, 2007 – 13 years after its original release date. It is currently certified 7x Platinum in Australia.

Burial is the debut studio album by London electronic producer Burial, released in 2006 on Kode9's Hyperdub label. Considered a landmark of the mid-2000s dubstep scene, album's sound features a dark, emotive take on the UK rave music that preoccupied Burial in his youth,[2] including 2-step, jungle, and UK garage.[3] Critics have variously interpreted the release as an elegy for the dissipated rave movement and an sullen audio portrait of London.[4]
