Stuart Colin Matthewman (born 18 August 1960), also known as Cottonbelly, is an English songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer [1] With Sade Adu, Paul S. Denman, and Andrew Hale, he gained worldwide fame as the guitarist/saxophonist of the English band Sade. Stuart is also a member Sweetback, and was one half of Twin Danger

He appeared on all of Sade's tours and albums: Diamond Life, Promise, Stronger Than Pride, Love Deluxe, Lovers Rock, and Soldier of Love all of which went triple platinum in the U.S. and have totalled sales over 40 million albums worldwide.

Using the pseudonym Cottonbelly, Stuart released the dub/electronic album, X Amounts Of Niceness in 2010 [1] and produced remixes for artists.

ABOUT
Stuart Matthewman, also known as Cottonbelly, is an accomplished writer, composer, producer, and of course, Sade's right-hand man; playing saxophone and guitar alongside her since their band, Sade's inception in 1983, releasing ten albums and collecting four Grammy awards along the way.

Between Sade albums and tours, Stuart stays quite active in the music world: composing film scores for the Polish Brothers' Twin Falls Idaho (1999), Northfork (2003), The Astronaut Farmer (2006), and Nelson George's TV movie, Life Support (2007) as well as producing and co-writing with various artists, notably Maxwell on his first three albums, and with English singer/songwriter Paloma Faith.

In 1994, Stuart teamed up with fellow Sade band mates, Andrew Hale and Paul Denman, forming the studio band, Sweetback, releasing two albums featuring various guest artists: Maxwell, Amel Larrieux, Aya, and Chocolate Genius.

As Cottonbelly, Stuart released the dub/electronic album, X Amounts Of Niceness (2010) and produced remixes for artists: Janet Jackson, Gregory Isaacs, and The Isley Brothers.

In the sleeve notes to his 2016 compilation album Pubic Intellectual, Momus said about the background to the song:

sex was everywhere in culture and all the more so because this was the time of AIDS, I determined to enter the high risk categories…if not a homosexual or an intravenous drug user, I could at least be a “fast track heterosexual”. But that entailed a complex, tangled, stormy personal life marked by multiple jealousies and paradoxes.

MoCa consist of five guys from Ruhr (Germany). These guys play unpretentious but forceful electronic music, somewhere between house and lounge, jazz and BigBeat. The result is funky, groovy, but above all, tremendously relaxed.
