Δεν το μετράει το limewire. Μπορείς να κατεβάσεις αρκεί να μοιράζεις 1 αρχείο. Αλλά ο κάθε χρήστης μπορεί να ορίσει κάτω από πόσα αρχεία θεωρείσαι freeloader, και αναλόγως να σου επιτρέπει να παίρνεις από αυτόν.

Από default επιτρέπει τους freeloaders και έχει το όριο στο 1.

Η έκδοση pro επηρρεάζει μόνο τα αποτελέσματα αναζήτησης όχι την ταχύτητα και τα sources.

For this reason, LimeWire and BearShare block web-based downloads. Furthermore, LimeWire can be configured to deny connections to servents that are serving no files. LimeWire also blocks queries from web-based indexing tools. Future servents must take even stronger measures to reward sharing and punish freeloaders. For example, a servent may choose not to give files to older servents since they are not "good citizens". (This is easy to implement; just look at the "User-Agent" HTTP header passed by the client.) Better yet, a servent may be allowed to download files only if it is sharing files itself. This may require protocol changes.

Παει και το eDonkey...

ONLINE FILESHARING outfit eDonkey has been forced to close and pay $30 million to the recording industry for ever existing.
MetaMachine, which owned eDonkey, was one of seven outfits to receive shut down letters by the Recording Industry Association of America. BearShare, i2Hub, WinMX, and Grokster have reached similar agreements. Warez P2P, Limewire and Soulseek have not made any agreement yet.

A spokesRIAA described the eDonkey closure as another domino falling, although that is usually seen as a bad thing, so we think he might have got a bit mixed up.

Under the agreement MetaMachine agreed to immediately cease distributing eDonkey, eDonkey 2000, and Overnet. It has also said that it will take steps to stop punters using previously downloaded versions of the eDonkey software.

The eDonkey Web site has a sign up saying that the eDonkey2000 Network was no longer available. It also has the RIAA’s requested mantra that people who steal music or movies are breaking the law
