« on: June 30, 2018, 18:20:37 pm »

We have two exciting opportunities for PhD studies in the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS) and Electrical and Computer Engineering Department in the Florida State University (FSU) for Fall 2018 or Spring 2019.
Prospective PhD students will have the opportunity to:

- work on the security of cyber-physical systems and embedded devices, power system analysis and real-time simulation tools for utility networks, and cutting-edge technologies to enhance the security of the future electric grid,
- work closely with FSU-CAPS partners in utilities, industries and other universities
- have access to commercial grade software and hardware

*Research and teaching assistantships are available for selected candidates.

The candidate PhD students are expected to have:

- a good background in the field of Electric Power Systems or Computer Science and Security.
- experience in any of the following areas will be consider an advantage: proficiency in programming skills (e.g. C/C++, Python, Matlab), control systems, computational intelligence and machine learning

*Candidates with a Master degree in the related fields are highly preferred.

Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS): The CAPS is a multidisciplinary research center organized to perform basic and applied research to advance the field of power systems technology. The center's excellent facilities accentuate its international position in power system real-time simulation and analysis. CAPS emphases are on technologies and theories related to networked infrastructure, as well as, developing an education program to train the next generation of electric grid scientists and engineers. Florida State University (FSU): FSU is categorized as an R1 Research University (Doctoral Universities – Highest research activity) in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. Founded in 1851, it is located on the oldest continuous site of higher education in the state of Florida. The university comprises 16 separate colleges and more than 110 centers, facilities, labs and institutes that offer more than 360 programs of study, including professional school programs.
