This year Greece falls another seven places in the rankings to 90th, remaining the lowest-ranked country of the European Union. In the context of the ongoing sovereign debt crisis, Greece continues to fall precipitously in the macroeconomic environment pillar, dropping to 140th position this year. Similarly, Greece’s financial markets are assessed more poorly than in the past, at 110th this year, showing particularly low confidence on the part of investors. The evaluation of public institutions (e.g., government efficiency, corruption, undue influence) continues to suffer and is ranked a low 89th overall. Another major area of concern is the country’s inefficient labor market (126th), which continues to constrain Greece’s ability to emerge from the crisis, demonstrating the importance of recent efforts to increase the retirement age and increase labor market flexibility. In working to overcome the present difficulties, Greece has a number of strengths to build upon, including a reasonably well educated workforce that is adept at adopting new technologies for productivity enhancements.

φαντάζομαι ότι έχει ως πρώτο κριτήριο το μοναδιαίο κόστος εργασίας( το πόσο δηλαδή είναι το εργατικό κόστος για να παράγεις 1 δολάριο προϊόν). Σίγουρα θα έχει και άλλα, όπως την "ευελιξία" της αγοράς εργασίας, τα "εμπόδια" στην επιχειρηματικότητα(αποζημιώσεις μετά από απολύσεις κλπ) κ.α

Since 2004, the report ranks the world's nations according to the Global Competitiveness Index[6]. The report states that it is based on the latest theoretical and empirical research. [1] It is made up of over 110 variables, of which two thirds come from the Executive Opinion Survey , and one third comes from publicly available sources such as the United Nations. The variables are organized into twelve pillars[7], with each pillar representing an area considered as an important determinant of competitiveness.

Το εβαλα σε αυτο τοπικ γιατι περισσοτερο πιστευω αφορα το πανεπιστημιο,γιατι ενα βασικο κριτηριο ανταγωνιστικοτητας στον 21ο αιωνα απο οτι λεει ειναι η συνδεση αγορας εργασιας με την εκπαιδευση.Εκτος απο το σχολιο για την ελλαδα,κοιτα πχ τι λεει για την ελβετια που ειναι η πρωτη στην καταταξη,και δεν εχει εξαγωγες αντιθετα εχει πανακριβους μισθους..
