Αποσπάσματα από έρωτες.

Χειμώνας βαρύς, κρύο πολύ
κι εκείνο το βράδυ το φεγγάρι
δε βγήκε, τα σύννεφα χαμηλώσανε
και η βρόχα έπεφτε, στρέιτ θρου.

Εκείνη μονάχη της,
έψησε ένα καφεδάκι,
άναψε ένα τσιγαράκι, πήγε στη βιβλιοθήκη της,
πήρε τον πρώτο τόμο από
τ' απομνημονεύματά της,
ξάπλωσε στη ντιβανοκασέλα της
κι άρχισε να τα διαβάζει ένα-ένα.

Ο πρόλογος δεν έλεγε και πολλά
πράγματα. Μα σαν έφτασε στη
σελίδα 96 εκατομμύρια τετρακόσια
εβδομήντα τρία οχτακόσια είκοσι
έξι, κάθετος,παύλα και κάτι ψιλά,
έγραφε οτι συνεδέθη με νεαρόν,
αλλά το ειδύλλιο δεν εκράτησε
παρά μόνον τρία εικοσιτετράωρα
διότι ούτος εκ των υστέρων
απεδείχθη ακατάλληλος.
Κι έτσι "καθαρίσανε" ένα βράδυ
που το φεγγάρι δεν βγήκε
και η βρόχα έπεφτε, ράιτ θρου.

Σελίδα 9 του εβδομηκοστού
τετάρτου τόμου.
Έγραφε οτι ήτανε καλοκαιριά
κι οτι είχε βγει στην παραλία
να κάνει το μπάνιο της.
Εκεί γνώρισε ένα νεαρό,
τον επλησίασε, ανταλλάξανε
μερικές κουβέντες και τον
ρώτησε για τ' όνομά του.
Εγώ, της λέει αυτός, ονομάζομαι
Φριτς. Τον αγάπησε τρελά. Αλλά
σαν μπήκε το φθινόπωρο, αυτός
την πούλεψε για την πατρίδα του
και κείνη ξέμεινε μόνη της,
ένα βράδυ που το φεγγάρι
δεν βγήκε και η βρόχα έπεφτε,
ράιτ θρου.

Έγραφε οτι πήγε και τον
εσυνάντησε και του είπε οτι
θα έπρεπε να γίνει ο γάμος.
Αυτός δεν έφερε αντίρρηση και
προσδιορίστηκε Πέμπτη ώρα μηδέν
και τριάντα τρία πρώτα και
σαράντα εννέα δεύτερα.

Η μέρα πλησίασε,
εκείνη για να πάει να παντρευτεί,
μπήκε στο μπάνιο της,
έριξε τα αποσμητικά της,
τα απορρυπαντικά της, ντύθηκε,
φόρεσε το νυφικό ενώ απ' όξω
το φεγγάρι δεν βγήκε
και η βρόχα έπεφτε, ράιτ θρου.

Αυτή είναι
η ιστορία μιας κυρίας.
