Το φαινομενο του αυτοκαννιβαλισμού...Η πιο ηπια μορφή ειναι η ονυχοφαγία. Οι αιτίες ειναι ψυχολογικές, αν δεν υφιστανται παυει.

Τα ζώα δεν κανιβαλίζουν πολύ συχνά, γιατί αν το έκαναν θα εξαφάνιζαν το ίδιο τους το είδος. Δεν είναι κάτι το ασυνήθιστο όμως.

In zoology, cannibalism is a common ecological interaction in the animal kingdom and has been recorded for more than 1500 species (this estimate is from 1981, and likely a gross underestimation).

Sexual cannibalism has been recorded in the female red-back spider, black widow spider, praying mantis, and scorpion, among others. In this form of cannibalism, the female sometimes eats the male after mating.

The more common form of cannibalism is size structured cannibalism, in which large individuals consume smaller conspecifics. In such size-structured populations, cannibalism can be responsible for 8% (Belding Ground Squirrel) to 95% (dragonfly larvae) of the total mortality, making it a significant and important factor for population and community dynamics. Such size structured cannibalism has commonly been observed in the wild for a variety of taxa, including octopus, bats, toads, fish, monitor lizards, red-backed salamanders and several stream salamanders, crocodiles, spiders, crustaceans, birds (crows, Barred Owls), mammals, and a vast number of insects, such as dragonflies, diving beetles, back swimmer, water strider, flour beetle, caddisflies and many more.

Unlike previously believed, cannibalism is not just a result of extreme food shortage or artificial conditions, but commonly occurs under natural conditions in a variety of species. In fact, scientists have acknowledged that it is ubiquitous in natural communities. Cannibalism seems to be especially prevalent in aquatic communities, in which up to ~90% of the organisms engage in cannibalism at some point of the life cycle. Cannibalism is also not restricted to carnivorous species, but is commonly found in herbivores and detritivores.

Another common form of cannibalism is infanticide. Classical examples include the chimpanzees where groups of adult males have been observed to attack and consume conspecific infants, and lions, where adult males commonly kill infants when they take over a new harem after replacing the previous dominant males.




Ιδιαίτερα αυτό που τα αρσενικά τρώνε τα νεογνά παρατηρείται πολύ συχνά, βλέπε τρωκτικά(ξέρω για τα χάμστερ).
Οι θηλυκές μυγαλές, έχω διαβάσει, τρώνε τα μικρά τους αν δε φύγουν από κοντά τους όταν δυναμώσουν και μπορούν να τα βγάζουν πέρα.

Να αναφέρω και το ότι το θηλυκό αλογάκι της Παναγίας, μετά το ζευγάρωμα, τρώει το σύντροφό του...δέστε το κάτι σαν την κυριολεκτική σημασία του όρου "θανατηφόρα γυναίκα"!

Ακόμα και η μαύρη χήρα και το αλογάκι της παναγίας σκοτώνουν το είδος τους για την επιβίωση!!!

Αν μένατε σε κάποιο ερημονήσι λόγο ναυγίου έσυ(για αρσενικό μιλάω αλλά πάντα πάρτε και το αντοίστηχο για γυναίκα), μια γυναίκα και τίποτα άλλο μόνο λίγα τρόφιμα που θα έφταναν για καναδυό χρόνια!!Και δεν υπήρχε πιθανότητα να σας βρούν,τί θα έκανες?Το μόνο λογικό είναι να προσπαθούσες να αποφύγεις τον αφανισμό του είδους σου!!Οπότε θα άφηνες την γυναίκα έγκυο όσο χρειαζόταν ώστε να μπορέσεις να έχεις ένα αγοράκι και ένα κοριτσάκι!!Στη συνέχεια κάποιος από τους γονείς (μάλλον ο άντρας) θα "θυσιαζόταν" για τροφή για διεώνηση του είδους με την ελπίδα τα παιδιά να βρίσκαν τρόπο να επιβιώσουν γεννόντας απογόνους!!

Λίγο χαζό το παράδειγμα αλλά πιστεύω να καταλαβαίνετε πως και ο άνθρωπος ζώο είναι άρα ακολουθεί σε υψηλό (πρωσοπική άποψη) βαθμό τα ένστικτα του άρα και αυτό της επιβίωσης και διαιώνησης!!

οφφ-τόπικ:Χμμ...ναι... λίγο μακάβριο παράδειγμα.

Εγώ αναρωτιέμαι, λες το παιδί πρι βγει από την κοιλιά της μητέρας του, να το πιάσουν ένστικτά κανιβαλισμού και να αρχίσει να την τρώει;;;

Υποθέτω βέβαια ότι το παιδί λόγω μιας μυστήριας γενετικής μετάλαξης έχει δόντια, παρόλο που είναι βρέφος

Σε ένα είδος καρχαρία που κατά έναν περίεργο τρόπο γεννάει μικρά, τα έμβρυα τρώνε το ένα το άλλο μέσα στη μήτρα.

Γενικότερα οι καρχαρίες τρώνε έναν άλλον καρχαρία, αν αυτός ματώσει και μυριστούνε το αίμα του.

Sandtiger Shark (Carcharias taurus)

Two forms of within-the-womb cannibalism are known in sharks. The most extreme form of intrauterine cannibalism - in which the largest and strongest embryo actually consumes its lesser womb-mates - is termed "embryophagy" or, more colorfully, "adelphophagy" - literally "eating one's brother". It was discovered accidentally in 1948, when a researcher probing the uteri of a late-term Sandtiger Shark (Carcharias taurus) was startled by a bite on the hand. To date, adelphophagy is known only in the Sandtiger. The less extreme and by far more common form of intrauterine cannibalism - in which developing embryos feed on a steady supply of tiny, unfertilized eggs - is termed "oophagy" (sometimes called "oviphagy") - meaning "egg-eating". The earliest documented case of oophagy dates back to 1907, in the Porbeagle (Lamna nasus). Both forms of intrauterine cannibalism continue throughout embryonic and fetal development, so that at birth each pups often has aa conspicuously swollen abdomen known as a "yolk stomach".
