There is a fully funded PhD studentship at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex, UK. The studentship covers overseas tuition fees (£17,900 per annum) and £17,668 stipend. 15 fully funded PhD Studentships covering Home fees of (£5,360 for 2021-22) plus stipend are available at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex.  Studentships are for a period of 3 years and will start from 25 April 2022. There is an opening for two funded MSD (Master by Dissertation) studentships in the Communications and Networks group at the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex under the Marie Curie RISE project RECENT and the supervision of Prof. Leila Musavian (https://www.essex.ac.uk/people/musav85708/leila-musavian) and Prof. Nikolaos Thomos (https://sites.google.com/site/nthomos/). The project will include secondment at the Portuguese partner (Greensphere Unipessoal LDA). The topic of the dissertations will be in the areas of physical-layer network coding, physical layer security, massive MIMO. Novel machine learning methods may be applied for the design of the systems.

Upon successful performance and availability of funding, there will be an opportunity for the successful candidate to continue for a PhD. Students at the BSc or MSc level with a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics are encouraged to apply. Above all, the applicants must be self‐motivated, learn quickly and work effectively on challenging research problems.

There is an opening for a fully funded PhD position under the supervision of Prof. Kun Yang who is the director of the Network Convergence Laboratory at the Computer Science and Electronic Engineering at the University of Essex. The PhD study will be in the area of wireless networks, including wireless network virtualization, communication and computation cooperation. The precise topic will be defined based also on the student's academic background and interest.

The successful candidates will investigate advanced coding and caching algorithms for Wireless Networks/Future Internet architectures. The research lies at intersection of coding, communications and multimedia networking. The topic of the Ph.D. is fairly open and the exact focus of the research could be agreed.
