Elephants Dream

Elephants Dream is a computer-generated short film made primarily using free software applications and premiered on March 24, 2006 after about 8 months of work. Beginning production in September, 2005, it was developed under the name Orange by a team of seven artists and animators from around the world. Its name was later changed from Machina and renamed to Elephants Dream (named after the way in which Dutch children's stories abruptly end).

The film's purpose is primarily to field test, develop and showcase the capabilities of open source software, demonstrating what can be done with such tools in the field of organizing and producing quality content for films.

The film's content was released under the Creative Commons Attribution license [3], so that viewers may learn from it and use it however they please (provided attribution is given).

The movie was made mostly as an experiment, rather than to tell a certain story and therefore has a strong random and surrealistic atmosphere. It features two men, Proog (the elder and more experienced) and Emo living in a miraculous construction referred to only as 'the Machine'; Proog tries to introduce Emo to its nature but the latter is reluctant and argues about its purpose. The creators originally intended for the movie to show the abstraction of a computer.

δεν εχει κανενα προβλημα στον ηχο..
το πιο πιθανο ειναι ειτε ελλειψη codecs ειτε οτι το συστημα δεν το αντεχει (μιλαμε για HD)
παντως εμενα παιζει μια χαρα 8)

Κάποιο codec πρέπει να λείπει από το Windows Media Player. Με το Classic Media Player παίζει μια χαρά...

ΥΓ. Ρε παιδιά, για ποιόν λόγο μετακινήθηκε το τοπικ στην κατηγορία cinema?
To Elephants Dream ΔΕΝ είναι ταινία, αφού δεν έχει κάποιο συγκεκριμένο στορι. Ουσιαστικά πρόκειται για μία επίδειξη των εργαλείων opesource. Άρα λοιπόν νομίζω πως θα πρέπει να μετακινηθεί στην αρχική του θέση!

Με VLC player έπειξε μια χαρά

Αλλά πολύ βαρύ... τρελή ανάλυση! Θέλει σούπερ μηχάνημα (game computer)

Τα γραφικά αρκετά ρεαλιστικά, η κίνηση μοιάζει με σύγχρονα τρισδιάστατα παιχνίδια(πλέον όλα είναι τρισδιάστατα). Βέβαια υποθέτω στον υπολογιστή μου δε θα είχε τη μέγιστη απόδοση...

Για πλοκή, χαώδης Tongue

Αλλά τα χρώματά του μ'άρεσαν πάρα πολύ! Πολύ ατμοσφαιρικό!

Βασικά βαριόμουν να το κατεβάσω, αλλά αυτά που λες ακούγονται καλή πρόκληση για την κάρτα γραφικών μου 8)

Λοιπόν:
Από άποψη γραφικών και ήχου είναι ένα μικρό τεχνολογικό θαύμα. Δυστυχώς δεν έχω οθόνη με ανάλυση 1920x1024 για να το απολαύσω σε όλο του το μεγαλείο. Από άποψη ιστορίας, αφήστε το καλύτερα Grin

Δεν ήταν και τόσο βαρύ τελικά, μόνο ένα 20% της CPU μου κατανάλωνε (υποθέτω θα ελάφρυνε και η κάρτα γραφικών), αλλά είναι πολύ απαιτητικό όσον αφορά την ταχύτητα του σκληρού δίσκου.

Ο ήχος είναι AC3 5.1, για να αποκωδικοποιηθεί σωστά σε ένα "γυμνό" σύστημα θέλει κάτι σαν το AC3filter. Βέβαια εγώ είχα κάποια προβληματάκια με τον video decoder. Είναι σίγουρα MP42;

Χρήστο εγώ το μετακίνησα! Δεν κολλάει στο Linux/Unix ούτως ή άλλως: Μην κάνετε το λάθος να ταυτίζετε την έννοια του ελεύθερου λογισμικού με το Linux!!!
Προτείνω να γίνει ένας πίνακας για το ελεύθερο λογισμικό γενικά. Τι λέτε?
