Quantum Cloud, by Antony Gormley

The units keep the points of a tetrahedral, but to ensure the sculpture’s random appearance none of the elements lie on the lines connecting these points. The cloud is formed from approximately 3600 square hollow sections of galvanised steel, each 70mm x 70mm x 1500mm long, welded together in an apparently random form to create an ellipsoidal cloud of steel. In the centre of this cloud the density of steel members was increased to form the shadowy shape of a man trapped within the cloud. The forms of the steel tendrils which generate the cloud and figure have been created using chaos theory and fractal growth principles by applying rules to restrict the length, angle and rotation of each member.

Man and Woman or Ali and Nino, by Tamara Kvesitadze

“Man and Woman” is an 8 meter (26 foot) tall moving steel sculpture by Georgian sculptor Tamara Kvesitadze. Located in the seaside city of Batumi, Georgia, It was inspired by a famous 1937 novel by an Azerbaijani unkown author, credited to the alias Kurban Said. Ali, an Azerbaijani Muslim, falls in love with Georgian princess, Nino, but sadly, after they are finally able to get together, the war hits home and Ali is killed. Despite the unknown origins, the title has become a literary classic in the area and is considered to be the national novel of Azerbaijan.

Le Pouce or The Thumb, by César Baldaccini

Standing over 40 feet tall and weighing more than 18 tons, “Le Pouce,” or “The Thumb” was built in 1965 by sculptor César Baldaccini. Using modern construction methodology, César took a mold of his thumb and created several absurdly enlarged versions of it, which can now be seen in parks and museums around the world. Undoubtedly the most famous of these is this gargantuan expansion in La Défense.

Dromeas or The Runner, by Costas Varotsos

Standing 12 meters tall, Dromeas, also called The Runner, is made of individual pieces of glass stacked atop each other to take the blurred shape of a runner in motion. Thousands of sharp, jagged pieces of glass form the sculpture. Created by noted Athens sculptor Costas Varotsos in 1994, Dromeas originally stood at Omonia Square, but was moved when construction commenced on the underground metro station there.

Head of Franz Kafka, by David Černý

The 42 mobile tiers of this eleven-metre-tall sculpture align to form the face of the famous Czech writer Franz Kafka. This 39-ton bust by artist David Černý dates from November 2014 and stands just by the Quadrio business centre, directly above the Národní třída metro station. It combines art with modern technologies and the traditional "golden hands" of Czech craftsmen.

A pair of giant, stone hands emerge from the verdant hills of Vietnam, lifting a gleaming bridge toward the sky. Cau Vang (meaning "gold bridge") just opened near Da Nang in the heart of the country. No one claimed credit for the impressive design as their own, but architectural renderings appear suggest the Vietnamese landscape company TA Corporation.

Manneken-Pis
The famous Manneken-Pis remains the emblem of the rebellious spirit of the City of Brussels. His wardrobe counts more than 900 suits. Manneken-Pis was at first a fountain that played an essential role in the former distribution of drinking water since the 15th century.

Και εμένα αυτό με είχε εντυπωσιάσει, γιατί είναι μιά σταλιά το άγαλμα και μαζεύει πολλούς επισκέπτες, μάλλον όλοι για αυτό πάνε.

The Big Merino by Glenn Senner

The Big Merino, built in 1985 is a monument to Goulburn and the surrounding district’s fine wool industry. Standing 15.2 meters high, 18 meters long and weighing 97 tones at the time of construction he is an impressive life-like model of Rambo, a stud Ram from a local property, “Bullamallita”.

"Paep Thoon" (1430-1487) bronze statue in Leuven, Belgium by Peter Vanbekbergen (born 1962). Paep Thoon was the bastard son of a local priest Jan van der Phalisen. His father arranged for him to become the organist at the Holy Sacrament of St Peter’s church in the 15th century. Paep was a jester who used to tell the truth through dark humour, became very popular with locals and was eventually banned from the town when he overstepped the mark.
