ΗΠΑ: Εν ψυχρώ δολοφονία δύο δημοσιογράφων στη Βιρτζίνια μπροστά στις κάμερες

Δύο δημοσιογράφοι έπεσαν νεκροί στη Βιρτζίνια, από πυρά που δέχθηκαν σήμερα, την ώρα που έπαιρναν συνέντευξη η οποία μεταδιδόταν απευθείας από το τοπικό τηλεοπτικό δίκτυο στο οποίο εργάζονταν, ανακοίνωσε ο εργοδότης τους, το τηλεοπτικό δίκτυο το WDBJ7, το οποίο και μετέδωσε τις εικόνες από το περιστατικό.

Η δημοσιογράφος “Αλισον Πάρκερ και ο εικονολήπτης “Ανταμ Γουάρντ έχασαν τη ζωή τους στο περιστατικό αυτό.

Σύμφωνα με τις εικόνες που μαγνητοσκοπήθηκαν από τον εικονολήπτη του WDBJ7 πριν πέσει νεκρός, αρχικά ακούγονται πυροβολισμοί, η κάμερα πέφτει στο έδαφος και μαγνητοσκοπεί τα πόδια αυτού που πυροβόλησε, ο οποίος σκοτώνει τη δημοσιογράφο από την οποία ακούστηκαν μόνο κραυγές.

First State Legalizes Weaponized Drones for Cops

North Dakota — Nothing says “police state” quite like unmanned aerial vehicles patrolling the sky ready to deploy 80,000 volts to the nearest protester or dose entire crowds with chemical weapons.

The idea of weaponized drones has long been a dystopian, yet fictional idea. However, thanks to House Bill 1328, in North Dakota, this police state hell from above is now a horrid reality.

Thanks to a police union lobbyist, the idea of police using drones for “less than lethal” weapons is now written into North Dakota law.

According to the Daily Beast,

The bill’s stated intent was to require police to obtain a search warrant from a judge in order to use a drone to search for criminal evidence. In fact, the original draft of Rep. Rick Becker’s bill would have banned all weapons on police drones.

Then Bruce Burkett of North Dakota Peace Officer’s Association was allowed by the state house committee to amend HB 1328 and limit the prohibition only to lethal weapons. “Less than lethal” weapons like rubber bullets, pepper spray, tear gas, sound cannons, and Tasers are therefore permitted on police drones.

The term “less than lethal” is thrown around to make tasers, which have been responsible for hundreds of deaths since 2001, seem like they are okay to be deployed on infants.

The reality is that “less than lethal” weapons are only slightly less lethal than the real thing. Now that these weapons will be put on drones, entire new safety concerns arise, such as accuracy and the simple issue of a drone falling into a crowd.

Υπό κράτηση βρίσκονται δύο αδελφοί από τη Βοστόνη των ΗΠΑ, που κατηγορούνται ότι ξυλοκόπησαν έναν άστεγο Μεξικανό, σε μια επίθεση που υποστηρίζουν ότι την εμπνεύστηκαν από τις δηλώσεις που έκανε για τους μετανάστες ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ, ο δισεκατομμυριούχος επιχειρηματίας που είναι υποψήφιος για το χρίσμα του Ρεπουμπλικανικού Κόμματος στις προεδρικές εκλογές του 2016.

Οι αδελφοί Σκοτ και Στιβ Λίντερ, 38 και 30 ετών, συνελήφθησαν τον περασμένο μήνα και κατηγορούνται για επίθεση με σκοπό τον εκφοβισμό με αφορμή την καταγωγή του θύματός τους.

Οι δύο άνδρες είπαν στους αστυνομικούς ότι έβαλαν στο στόχαστρο τον 58χρονο Μεξικανό, το όνομα του οποίου δεν αποκαλύφθηκε, επειδή πίστευαν ότι ήταν λαθρομετανάστης. Σύμφωνα με την αναφορά της αστυνομίας, είπαν: «Ο Ντόναλντ Τραμπ είχε δίκιο, όλοι αυτοί οι παράνομοι πρέπει να απελαθούν». Ο ίδιος ο Τραμπ, που αρχικά είχε χαρακτηρίσει την επίθεση «αποτέλεσμα φλογερών απόψεων για τη μετανάστευση», την περασμένη Παρασκευή την χαρακτήρισε «φρικτή», μέσω του Twitter.

Το φαινόμενο trump πρέπει να αναλυθεί κάποια στιγμή λίγο σοβαρότερα. Τώρα τον αντιμετωπίζουμε ως sarah palin περίπου: Γραφικό τυπάκι, που δεν έχει ελπίδες να κερδίσει.

Παρ'όλα αυτά εγώ τον βλέπω σαν το μέλλον της καθωσπρέπει αστικής πολιτικής σκηνής. Είναι ο τύπος χωρίς καμία (φαινομενικά) ιδεολογική αναφορά, που ευαγγελίζεται την άριστη διακυβέρνηση.
Βεβαίως, αυτό που τον διαχωρίζει με το ποτάμι (και γενικά με κάθε λογής "κεντρώο" μόρφωμα) είναι ότι βλέπει την πολιτική καθαρά σαν να είναι CEO εταιρείας.

Τι φταίει που το Χ πολιτικό σχέδιο δεν δούλεψε? Μα το ότι όλοι οι κυβερνήτες μας είναι άχριστοι/ανίκανοι απαντάει. Εγώ ως ικανός manager θα βρω τα ικανότερα στελέχη και θα το λύσουν το θέμα.
Αντιστοίχως, βλέπει τους πολίτες ως μετόχους εταιρειών. Τι θέλει ο κόσμος να κάνουμε στους παράνομους μετανάστες? Να τους κάνουμε σκλάβους? Οκ, θα βρω τους ικανότερους να το κάνουν.
Τι θέλουν οι ψηφοφόροι να κάνουμε για το θέμα της φορολογίας? Να την αυξήσουμε στους πλούσιους? Φυσικά και θα την αυξήσουμε!

Αν αυτό ακούγεται θελκτικό σε κάποιους, είναι γιατί (φαντάζομαι) δεν καταλαβαίνουν ότι το mix and match πολιτικών δεν γίνεται. Δεν γίνεται να είσαι κομουνιστής στα οικονομικά, βασιλικός στο πολιτειακή οργάνωση, και φασίστας στα κοινωνικά*. Ο trump απλά λέει αυτό που ο κόσμος θέλει να ακούσει, χωρίς απολύτως καμία αναφορά σε πολιτικές ιδεολογίες. Μετα-μετα-μετα μοντέρνα αστική διακυβέρνηση που βασίζεται στο δόγμα "ο πολιτικός πρέπει να αλλάζει την γραμμή του ανάλογα με το τι πιστεύει η κοινωνία", και όχι με αυτό που (θεωρητικά) ισχύει μέχρι σήμερα και λέει ότι οι πολιτικοί σχηματισμοί προσπαθούν να πείσουν την κοινωνία ότι αυτοί έχουν δίκιο, και δεν κάνουν στροφές 180 μοιρών απλά για να μείνουν στην εξουσία

*Και εδώ το ζουμί είναι να αναλύσεις αν αυτό το ενδεχόμενο υπάρχει, δηλαδή αν η πλειοψηφία της κοινωνίας έχει ριζικά διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις σε διαφορετικά προβλήματα. Άποψη μου είναι ότι έχει, αλλά όχι σε αυτά τα ζητήματα "που μετράνε"(στο οικονομικό επικοδόμημα). Για να το κάνω λιανά δηλαδή, μικρή διαφορά κάνει στην διακυβέρνηση αν τα LGBT ζευγάρια μπορούν να παντρεύονται ή να υιοθετούν παιδιά. Ειδικά στο 2ο ερώτημα υπάρχει τεράστιο debate στην αμερική. Όμως κανείς δεν φαίνεται στα σοβαρά να αμφισβητεί τον καπιταλισμό. Στην καλύτερη ζητάνε μια μεγαλύτερη φορολόγηση των πλουσίων , αν και όχι τίποτα δραστικό μην μας φύγουν οι καλοί επενδυτούληδές μας.

Να σημειώσω πως ο Trump εχει περάσει και απο τους Δημοκρατικούς ενα φεγγαρι (εχει και προσωπικές σχεσεις με τους Κλιντον) , ενω τωρα παρουσιαζεται ως 'ανεξαρτητος", παροτι ζητα το χρίσμα των Ρεπουμπλικανων. Όπως ειπε ο GHUA προβάλλει το οτι ο ίδιος δεν ειναι πολιτικός, αλλα πετυχημένος επιχειρηματίας ("ειμαι πλουσιος" λεει οπου βρεθει), και κραζει οτι οι πολιτικοι εχουν αποτυχει γιατι ειναι "ασχετοι" ή δεν ξερουν να κανουν τη δουλεια. Δε δισταζει να το λεει αυτό και για τους Ρεπουμπλικάνους συνυποψηφιους του. Σας θυμίζει κατι;;


Ο Ντοναλντ Τραμπ εχει την χυδαιότητα και γελοιότητα ενος συνδιασμου Μουσσολίνι με Μπερλουσκόνι, αλλα ηλίθιος δεν ειναι σε καμια μα καμια περίπτωση. Ο,τι λεει ειναι προμελετημένο, σχεδιασμένο. Η εμμονη του με την Κίνα δεν ειναι ενα αστειο μονο: ο Trump και ο Sanders των Δημοκρατικών, συμφωνούν να μπουν δασμοί σε κινεζικης προέλευσης προιόντα. Αυτο σημαίνει πως ενα μεγάλο κομματι της αμερικάνικης αστικής ταξης ειναι υπέρ του εμπορικού πολεμου με την Κίνα, στα προτυπα εκεινου με τη Ρωσία. Ομοίως με το Μεξικο, ο Trump δεν εχει προβλημα με τους μεξικανους αθλια πληρωμένους εργατες, αλλωστε απασχολει αρκετους οπως εχει πει. Οταν λεει "Mexico is the new China" δειχνει να αισθανεται πως το Μεξικο, μαριονετα των ΗΠΑ, αρχιζει να αναπτυσει αστικη ταξη δικια του, και χρειαζεται να φαει καρπαζιά. Ετσι σπρωχνει την κοινη γνωμη των ΗΠΑ εναντια στη γειτονικη χωρα.

Poll finds almost a third of Americans would support a military coup

Almost a third of Americans could imagine supporting a military coup against their own government, according to a new poll.

The YouGov survey showed 29% of Americans could imagine supporting a coup. Yet, 41% said they could not imagine supporting such an event.

YouGov, which conducts internet polls about “politics, public affairs, products, brands and other topics of general interest”, surveyed 1,000 people online on the issue.

They found that 43% of Republicans would support a military coup in certain instances, while only 20% of Democrats and 29% of independents would.

The overall numbers increased when participants were “asked whether they would hypothetically support the military stepping in to take control from a civilian government which is beginning to violate the constitution”. 43% said yes to this, and 29% said no.

Abraham Wyner, director of the undergraduate program in statistics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, said that online polls were “worse than just about any other way you can put together a poll” because they were prone to selection bias, meaning proper randomization was not achieved and the sample was not representative of the population – since people can choose to participate.

“People who are participating in an online poll are generally attracted to that poll because of some variable, some characteristic which is connected typically to one outcome or the other in that poll,” he said.

Λίγο παραπλανητικός ο τίτλος δεδομένου ότι το ναι σημαίνει: "Σε κάποιες συγκεκριμένες περιπτώσεις, ίσως θα υποστήριζα πραξικόπημα."

Δεδομένης της όλης κουλτούρας του 2nd ammendment και τα λοιπά, οι περισσότεροι μάλλον σκέφτονταν ένα απολυταχικό καθεστός που παραβιάζει όλα τα δικαιώματα.

To 2nd ammendement μιλάει για την ενοπλη αντισταση των αμερικανων σε καθε τυραννο εξωτερικό ή εσωτερικό με πολιτοφυλακή. Οχι ο επαγγελματικός στρατός να ανατρέψει την εκλεγμένη κυβέρνηση.


Βεβαια η δημοσκοπηση ειναι ηλεκτρονική, αρα δεν ξερω ποσο επιστημονική ειναι.

Απλά επειδή όταν μιλάνε για το 2nd ammendement το context συνήθως είναι "αν η κυβέρνηση γίνει full evil και μας καταπιέζει να μπορούμε να αμυνθούμε" πιστεύω οι περισσότεροι κάτι τέτοιο έχουν στο νου τους. Τέρμα διεφθαρμένη κυβέρνηση και ο καλός στρατός που επεμβαίνει για να τη ρίξει και να επαναφέρει το Ο λογαριασμός έχει παραβιαστεί, μην ανοίξετε το link.. (Έχουν και καλύτερη εικόνα για τον στρατό εκεί.)

Δηλαδή ο τίτλος δίνει την εντύπωση ότι μιλάει για κάτι συγκεκριμένο (πιθανώς τώρα ξέρω γω), λίγο clickbaity.  :P

Με νωπές ακόμη τις μνήμες από το μακελειό στο κολέγιο του Όρεγκον νέο περιστατικό με πυροβολισμούς έρχεται να προστεθεί στη θλιβερή λίστα. Ένας άνθρωπος σκοτώθηκε και τρεις τραυματίστηκαν σε πανεπιστήμιο της Αριζόνα.

Σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση της διοίκησης του πανεπιστημίου, οι πυροβολισμοί σημειώθηκαν σε χώρο στάθμευσης έξω από κοιτώνα στη βορειοανατολική πλευρά της πανεπιστημιούπολης τη νύχτα της Πέμπτης προς Παρασκευή (τοπική ώρα).

A 16-year-old teen is in custody, accused of shooting his three relatives inside a Nashville, Tenn. home after a fight erupted when his mother and grandmother tried to wake him, police said.

Study: US is an oligarchy, not a democracy

The US is dominated by a rich and powerful elite.

So concludes a recent study by Princeton University Prof Martin Gilens and Northwestern University Prof Benjamin I Page.

This is not news, you say.

Perhaps, but the two professors have conducted exhaustive research to try to present data-driven support for this conclusion. Here's how they explain it:

Multivariate analysis indicates that economic elites and organised groups representing business interests have substantial independent impacts on US government policy, while average citizens and mass-based interest groups have little or no independent influence.

In English: the wealthy few move policy, while the average American has little power.

The two professors came to this conclusion after reviewing answers to 1,779 survey questions asked between 1981 and 2002 on public policy issues. They broke the responses down by income level, and then determined how often certain income levels and organised interest groups saw their policy preferences enacted.

"A proposed policy change with low support among economically elite Americans (one-out-of-five in favour) is adopted only about 18% of the time," they write, "while a proposed change with high support (four-out-of-five in favour) is adopted about 45% of the time."

On the other hand:

When a majority of citizens disagrees with economic elites and/or with organised interests, they generally lose. Moreover, because of the strong status quo bias built into the US political system, even when fairly large majorities of Americans favour policy change, they generally do not get it.

They conclude:

Americans do enjoy many features central to democratic governance, such as regular elections, Ο λογαριασμός έχει παραβιαστεί, μην ανοίξετε το link. of speech and association and a widespread (if still contested) franchise. But we believe that if policymaking is dominated by powerful business organisations and a small number of affluent Americans, then America's claims to being a democratic society are seriously threatened.

"American democracy is a sham, no matter how much it's pumped by the oligarchs who run the country (and who control the nation's "news" media)," he writes. "The US, in other words, is basically similar to Russia or most other dubious 'electoral' 'democratic' countries. We weren't formerly, but we clearly are now."

This is the "Duh Report", says Death and Taxes magazine's Robyn Pennacchia. Maybe, she writes, Americans should just accept their fate.

"Perhaps we ought to suck it up, admit we have a classist society and do like England where we have a House of Lords and a House of Commoners," she writes, "instead of pretending as though we all have some kind of equal opportunity here."

πάντως καραμαζοβ τα riots στο ferguson ήταν "καλούτσικα" με την έννοια ότι είχαν μια κάποια διάρκεια και φάνηκε η αγανάκτηση. Όλα τα άλλα riots (μαζί και αυτό στην βαλτιμόρη αλλά και μετά από κάθε αστυνομική δολοφονία) ήταν λίγο ξεψυχισμένα.Βέβαι οι σημερινοί πυροβολισμοί είναι το λιγότερο σοκαριστικοί, αλλά σίγουρα όχι μη-αναμενόμενοι .

Και ναι, εννοούσα την μαζικότητα που είχαν τα κινήματα των 60-70 . Και μακάρι να υπήρχαν πάλι μαύροι πάνθηρες, αλλά που... Στην τελική για αμερική θα ήταν επιτυχία μια μαζική οργάνωση που θα ζητούσε δυναμικά(αλλά πάντα μέσα στα όρια του αστικού κράτους) την ίση μεταχείρηση των πολιτών ανεξαρτήτως φύλου/θρησκείας/σεξουαλικού προσανατολισμού.

BREAKING NEWS - Locals near Kabul airport claim that three young men who were holding themselves tightly in the tires of an airplane fell on top of people's houses.  One of the locals confirmed this and said that the fall of these people made a loud and terrifying noise.
