The candidates will be supervised by Dr. Nikolaos Thomos and be members of the Network Convergence Laboratory (http://dclgw.essex.ac.uk). The successful candidates will investigate advanced coding and caching algorithms for Wireless Networks/Future Internet architectures. The research lies at intersection of coding, communications and multimedia networking. The topic of the Ph.D. is fairly open and the exact focus of the research could be agreed. The positions are fully funded (stipend & tuition) and are available immediately, once the suitable candidates pass the application requirements.

Students at the B.S. or M.Sc. level with background in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics are encouraged to apply. Above all, the applicants must be self‐motivated, learn quickly and work effectively on challenging research problems.
