Title: 2 Υποτροφίες για Διδακτορικές Σπουδές στο Λονδίνο Post by: pitsoulis on November 19, 2012, 14:58:35 pm We have two fully funded PhD positions are at King’s College London, Institute of Telecommunications, under the supervision of Dr Vasilis Friderikos and co-supervision of Dr Katerina Papadaki (Management Science Group, Department of Management, LSE). The students can start as early as January 2013.
The PhD scholarships pay the student fees and have a research assistance salary of approximately 2000 Euros. We are looking for PhD students that have a background in Wireless Networks and also have some knowledge of optimization methods (ideally students that have electrical engineering undergraduate degrees and have taken some optimization courses). If a student is interested please get in touch with Dr Vasilis Friderikos (vasilis.friderikos@kcl.ac.uk), or if he is not available Dr Katerina Papadaki (k.p.papadaki@lse.ac.uk). The description of the project is shown below. CROSSFIRE, a newly launched FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network, offers twelve fully-funded PhD positions in six European countries. Under an architectural and component level perspective, the project approaches the emerging Long-Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) network, which will be populated by uncoordinated and vast number of small cells (micro, pico and femtocells). We primary aim to provide a holistic understanding on issues such as co-channel interference from randomly located small cells (unplanned deployment), efficient utilization of the scarce spectrum (via cognition), self-organization (SON) and QoE at the end users, under the assumption that LTE-A networks share a common physical infrastructure. CROSSFIRE will analyze and propose network virtualization solutions, a technology which is envisioned to transform the operation of cellular networks in the years to come. |
