Edit: Βάζω ως κανόνα, εκ των υστέρων (δημοκρατικά πράγματα) οτι δεν θα πρέπει να βαριόμαστε να πληκτρολογήσουμε το όνομα του συγκροτήματος / καλλιτέχνη / -ιδας και τον τίτλο του δίσκου, γιατί μόνο από την εικόνα του εξώφυλλου πολλοί δεν θα καταλαβαίνουν για ποιον πρόκειται  :P

Pixies - Doolittle
After reviewing two rather new albums, I'll continue with a classic today. One of the most recognized groups of the 90s, that has inspired hundreds of bands and still has an giant fan base. Almost everybody should at least know their song "Where is My Mind?" which is featured at the end of the movie "Fight club".

Their music was inspired by Surf Rock as well as from Punk Rock. Frank Black (vocals/rhythm guitar) must be one of the most talented songwriters in the world of rock. Every song on this record seems perfect and has a unique tone to it. They use fast changes of pace, minimalistic guitars, sometimes soft vocals and sometimes crazy shouting. If you want your rock to be diversified, just listen to the Pixies!

If you have missed out on this till now and you love rock, then please get this record as soon as possible. It's nearly perfect. They released 4 albums and every one of them has it's own charm. "Doolittle" is their most well-known album and was way ahead of it's time. Seeing them live was, without any question, the best concert of my life!
Check them out if you like: Nirvana, Hüsker Dü, Sonic Youth, PJ Harvey, The Breeders (which is the band of the bass player, Kim Deal. Also good)

Κάθισα και τον άκουσα γιατί είχα ακούσει κάτι σκόρπια remix του Trentemoller και τρελάθηκα. Προτείνετε περισσότερα από αυτό το είδος αν έχετε, γιατί εντυπωσιάστηκα. Πολύ χαλαρωτικά τραγούδια και ταιριάζουν απόλυτα με τον καιρό.

Κατωτερο των προσδοκιων  :( :( :(... Βεβαια με τις μεγαλες μπαντες ετσι γινεται συνηθως. Τελικα ελειψε ο Frusciante....
Παρα, παρα πολυ καλο το Even You Brutus...

+1000 Με τετοιες επιτυχιες στο παρελθον δυσκολα να ηταν ενα ακομη καλυτερο αλμπουμ! Παρολα αυτα μ αρεσει που κρατανε τον χαρακτηριστικο τους ηχο!

Κριτικές  :

How The Sound aren't regarded as one of the greatest British bands is beyond be me and is surely one of musics greatest travesties. Whilst the likes of The Cure and U2 are lauded to the rooftops, The Sound seem to have been largely forgotten. However, listening to From The Lions Mouth gives me a sense of superiority over other music fans who do not know about The Sound. Those of us in the know understand how special this band are.

Produced by Hugh Jones (also responsible for The Bunnymen's equally brilliant Heaven Up Here), From The Lions Mouth is a joy throughout and fully deserving of its forgotten classic status. This album proves that Adrian Borland was an awseome guitarist and along with Will Sergeant and Johnny Marr, among the best of his generation.

Lyrical themes of despair and isolation do indeed pervade the album and it is obvious that Adrian Borland was heavily influenced by Ian Curtis. However, unlike Curtis, I believe Borland could see hope beyond the despair. This is evident in the lyrics to the albums opening track, Winning - "I was gonna drown, then I started swimming/I was going down, then I started winning." This gives From The Lions Mouth an uplifting quality that was largely absent from Unknown Pleasures and Closer.

One of the best albums of the 80's, or any other decade for that matter.

From The Lions Mouth is even better. While it doesn't have the hard-hitting singles of Jeopardy, it has a shimmering, cohesive fusion of lyrics and sound. The album reaches a dark apex with "Possession" ("There's a devil in me/Trying to show his face") and the red hot "The Fire" ("Drawn towards the heat/Too fierce to contain"), and "New Dark Age," with thudding kettle drums of doom. The press went wild for it, but sales were dismal. Possibly because the album was too unique. It didn't fit neatly into any of the synth pop/new wave/new romantic stuff that was popular in '81. Nor did it have the bombast that would make Echo & the Bunnymen, U2 and Simple Minds so popular just a couple years later. Korova dumped The Sound onto its parent company, WEA as a write-off, who pressured them to go more commercial.

Κάτι τέτοιοι στίχοι και νοοτροπία με κάνουν να λεω ότι το χιέβι μέταλ MOY είναι πάνκ ρε παιδί μου .Είναι κυνικό ,απλό,εφηβικό,αφελές απο επιλογή. Οσους σατανάδες και "μεταφυσική" κουβαλάει το κάνει γιατί ντάξει ,ακόμα πολύ νέος είσαι και όλα είναι περισσότερο μυστηρια ..."got no place to call your own"

Γενικά η φάση τους μέχρι τα μέσα 80 αλλά ειδικά μέχρι το number of the beast είναι αξεπέραστη όσον αφορά αυτό το συναίσθημα.Τα artworks επίσης.Αυτό το άρρωστο κίτρινο φως ΔΡΟΜΟΥ στο στενό περιγράφει τέλεια την μουσική τους και γενικά το πως μπορεί να βλέπει ΠΑΡΑΜΟΡΦΩΜΕΝΑ τα πράματα ενας teenager χιεβιμεταλάς γενικά ...είναι απλά ένα σκατόστενο ασπούμε αλλά στα μάτια ενός 17χρονου που τώρα αρχίζει και καταλαβαίνει τον κόσμο φαίνεται ελκυστικά εφιαλτικό ,έχει κάτι να του πει...
Το θαύμα είναι ότι οι maiden δεν είχαν  και καμία τρελή συννενόηση με τον μπογιατζή που τα εφτιαχνε (derek riggs).
 Στενά ,βρωμιά ,led zepelin,judas priest,θέληση ρε παιδί μου για ζωή ΤΩΡΑ στο κέντρο της θατσερικής γαμώτηνυγρασία και την ζοφίλα Αγγλίας και ας είναι αυτή καταχρήσεις, χιέβι μέταλ και ξενύχτια λοιπόν.

Φυσικά. Έτσι αξιολογείς σωστά τη μουσική που ακούς, έτσι ξεχωρίζεις την ήρα από το στάρι...
Φυσικά και σήμερα, μετά την εμφάνιση του internet, των mp3, των άπειρων download Sites, της τεχνολογίας μοιράσματος αρχείων μέσω torrent και άλλων Streaming εφαρμογών ακρόασης μουσικής (Spotify, κτλ), του Youtube, των ιντερνετικών ραδιοφώνων κτλ έχει αλλάξει και ο τρόπος που ακούμε μουσική.
Ειδικά μέσω Facebook η πλειοψηφία της νεολαίας έρχεται σε επαφή μόνο με μουσική που ποστάρεται από τους φίλους του κάθε χρήστη. Δηλαδή αν ένας άσχετος από μουσική έχει φίλους που ποστάρουν στο FB μόνο σκυλάδικα, πχ Πάολα και Παντελίδη (πιάνω τα 2 Π) αναμενόμενο είναι (και αν είναι εντελώς άσχετος και δεν ξέρει να ψάξει ΠΡΑΓΜΑΤΙΚΑ ΜΟΝΟΣ ΤΟΥ) να ακούει και αυτός σε λίγο καιρό Πάολα, Παντελίδη και άντε και τα Related που θα του βγάζει το Youtube που δεν θα ναι ούτε κλασσική μουσική, ούτε κάτι ποιοτικό (αν και είναι σχετικό και το ποιοτικό).
Αν έχεις πιάσει τον εαυτό σου να κάνεις τυχαία κλικ στα Related του YouTube (που όλοι μας το έχουμε κάνει) για να ακούσεις καινούργια μουσική, συγνώμη που σε πληροφορώ, αλλά έχεις πέσει στην ίδια παγίδα... Και εγώ πολλές φορές δυστυχώς.
Αλλά τίποτα δε συγκρίνεται με το να κάτσεις και να ακούσεις ολόκληρο τον δίσκο ενός καλλιτέχνη-συγκροτήματος, ειδικά η πρώτη ακρόαση είναι ένα μοναδικό συναίσθημα, είναι η πρώτη εντύπωση, και αν μιλάμε για κάποιο από τα συκροτήματα που συμπαθείς σε κάποιο βαθμό πάντα εμπεριέχει αγωνία για το αποτέλεσμα και ίσως και για τον καιρό που περίμενες αυτόν τον νέο τους δίσκο...

Για αυτό και λέω να θυμηθώ ... ποιο να βάλω,... ας θυμηθώ την δισκάρα των Pearl Jam, Ten...

Drum 'n' Bass for Papa is an album by the experimental electronic music artist Luke Vibert under his alias of Plug. The album was originally released on vinyl in 1996 (see 1996 in music) by Blue Planet Recordings. The alias Plug was used by Vibert to release Drum 'n' Bass oriented music.
The album has gone through several different releases. The first was a compact disc release with additional bonus tracks titled Drum 'N' Bass for Papa + Special Edition CD; it had different cover art and the discs were colored dark blue instead of the original sepia tone.[6] The photograph on the cover is of Frank Vibert, Luke's grandfather, who was a keen amateur magician.
The album was released again on Trent Reznor's label Nothing Records on September 9, 1997, it was a double album on compact disc that included the three EPs Plug released. This version of the album had the same cover as the Special Edition version but changed "Special Edition" to "+plug ep's 1,2, & 3" for the title. It was released under the title Drum 'N' Bass for Papa +plug EPs 1, 2 & 3. The other difference in this version was that the import included the track "The Life of the Mind" that wasn't included on the album due to problems with a sample clearance.[7] The sample in question was John Goodman's screaming freakout from the film Barton Fink.
In 2007, Plug's material was remastered by Vibert from the original DATs and released on bleep.com in mp3 and FLAC formats.[1]

100th Window is the fourth studio album from the Bristol-based trip-hop group Massive Attack. Of the band's original core trio, the album only features Robert Del Naja. Andrew Vowles departed shortly after the release of Mezzanine, and Grant Marshall refused to participate in the making of the record.

η πρώτη αφορά το εξωτερικό περίβλημα του δίσκου ... δεξιά και αριτερά αυτού εμφανίζονται τα άκρα δύο ανθρωπινων δακτύλων ... μόλις αγγίξεις με το δεξί σου δάκτυλο το εξώφυλλο ο δίσκος βγαίνει αυτομάτως από τη θήκη του ...

η δεύτερη είναι θέμα αισθητικής και design καθώς με το που βάζεις τον δίσκο στο πικαπ για να παίξει το μπαρμπαδέλι που βρίσκεται στο κέντρο αυτού αρχίζει να περιστρέφεται ...

και η τρίτη έχει να κάνει με την αρχιτεκτονική του ... καθώς η αναπαραγωγή των τραγουδιών γίνεται με τυχαία σειρά κάθε φορά που το βάζεις στο πικαπ ανάλογα με το που θα κάτσει η βελόνα ... αυτό έχει ως αποτέλεσμα η παρακάτω σειρά τραγουδιών να είναι εντελώς ενδεικτική ...

κάπου ανάμεσα στις διάφορες μπάντες ... εντοπίζει κανείς και τους "δικούς μας" last drive ...

A true pioneer of the Drum and Bass sound, Gridlok remains one of the most highly regarded artists in the industry. With a discography spanning over a decade and featuring classics such as ‘Moodswings’, ‘Bottomfeeder’, and ‘Standing Room Only’, it’s little wonder that the Gridlok name has become synonymous with timeless Drum and Bass.

Involved with music from an early age, Ryan Powell aka Gridlok picked up a variety of instruments, but it was after experimenting with a cheap radio shack microphone paired with a 4-track tape recorder that he soon found himself in the murky world of production. Now with the use of a computer and an E-mu sampler along with an ever-changing combination of analogue gear and production techniques, this West Coast producer has led by example, constantly exploring new ways of injecting emotion and attitude into his art.

The grimy uncompromising style that Gridlok has developed forms the foundation for his glittering career, gaining him the attention of his peers with household names such as Shy FX, Pendulum, and Dom and Roland lining up to work with the American producer. Acknowledged by artists in and out of Drum and Bass, Gridlok has put his spin on other genres, remixing for the likes of electronica giant Josh Wink and house legend Sasha. Gridlok’s original music and remixes have also branched into other media, with his work appearing in titles such as Konami’s Dance Dance Revolution and MTV’s Challenge series. Covering a wide spectrum within Drum and Bass, Gridlok’s versatile production has allowed him to release on a diverse range of labels, spanning from Ram Records and Playaz to Commercial Suicide and Moving Shadow, whilst maintaining his signature sound.

In 2003 Gridlok continued to forge his own path, launching the Project 51 Recordings imprint. Designed as an avenue for underground cutting edge music, Project 51 has featured gritty no-nonsense tracks from heavyweights such as Optiv, Hive, The Upbeats, as well as Gridlok himself.

After recording the ground-breaking ‘Welcome to Violence’ album on Violence Recordings in 2005 with Hive, Keaton, and Echo, Gridlok began work on the first full-length album for Project 51 Recordings. The result was ‘Break the System’, a record that represented a seminal work for the dark side of Drum and Bass. Featuring an all-star line up of the scene’s brightest stars such as Pendulum, Tech Itch, and Dieselboy, ‘Break the System’ further pushed the boundaries of DnB, and provided the groundwork for American producers to get heard around the globe.

While Project 51 was growing from strength to strength, Gridlok kept close ties to Violence Recordings. Building the Violence imprint into a musical powerhouse, it went on to release some of the most influential Drum and Bass records to ever come out of the Americas. Released in 2006 and a joint project between Hive and Gridlok along with Break, D-Bridge, and Silent Witness, ‘Standing Room Only’ was inevitably one of the biggest anthems of the year, and remains a classic still being heard today.

In 2009 Gridlok put into practice all that he had learned, releasing what he considers to be his first true solo album. A collection of 13 dark, unsettling solo cuts, ‘Void’ represented a milestone in Gridlok’s career, and one in which he reached new levels of creativity and originality. Highly acclaimed in the Drum and Bass scene and beyond, ‘Void’ also saw Gridlok’s brand of DnB acknowledged by the rest of the world, with MTV licensing and regularly playing 9 of the CD’s 13 tracks on the world’s most-watched music channel.

Last year was one of the producing veteran’s biggest years to date, with a host of varied releases on Drum and Bass’s hottest labels. After dropping collaborations with Blokhe4d on Bad Taste and Hospital Records, next came the release of the Playaz anthem “Tru Born Playaz”, a call to arms featuring MC Fats and Prolix. In addition to huge joint projects, Gridlok also kept up his solo productions, dropping the stripped-back ‘Enemies of the State’ on Commercial Suicide as well as unleashing the paranoia-inducing ‘Insecticide’ on his own P51 imprint. The creepiest track of 2011, the cold blooded, fidgety sounds of ‘Insecticide’ found their way into raves across the world, showing Gridlok’s innate ability to set the trend and stay ahead of the curve.

2012 has already given us more first-class production from the West Coast’s finest export, kicking off the year hard with the massive ‘Poisonous’, a venomous joint effort with Prolix. Heavily supported by Radio 1’s Bailey and already smashing up clubs worldwide, ‘Poisonous’ is merely the start of a year that promises to be another exciting chapter in Ryan Powell’s illustrious career. Now with ‘The American Dream’ project forthcoming on P51, more releases on Playaz ready to drop, and a tour de force with Noisia and The Upbeats in the pipeline, Gridlok continues to innovate - pushing the envelope whilst staying true to his craft.

Real Name: Robert Haigh
Producer from Sheffield, UK. Latterly moved to Hertford.

Rob Haigh's first release as Omni Trio was on his own Candidate Records label in early 1993. This caught the ear of
Hertford based trio 2 Bad Mice who helped sign Haigh to Moving Shadow. Through the nineties Haigh developed a unique
style of what has become known as ambient (or 'intelligent') Drum and Bass and released six acclaimed albums. The Omni
Trio sound is notable for its intricate orchestrated production and atmospheric sound palette.

"Haunted Science" seems the Omni Trio moving into more melodic territory, although his rhythmic sensibilities haven't
diminished any. "Astral Phase" and "Serpent Navigators" sees him drifting into atmospheric drum 'n' bass, and "Nu Birth
of Cool" continues in this vein, replete with diva wailing (Rogue Unit's mix of the track takes a more electro tack with
some more emphasis on the snares). "Rhythm Methods" jazzes things up some, while "The Elemental" rings in with some
bright, clarion tones. "Who Are You?" is a spry little track in its original form, and Aquasky transforms it into
something spacious and dreamy, just as Carlito has a jazz-funk time with "Trippin' on Broken Beats." But the stunner over
all would be "Haunted Kind," a dark and downtempo piece that shows that Omni Trio has more than fierce beats at his
disposal (description by scoundrel).

O κατάλογος της Lazy Dog στο Bandcamp!

Μια από τις σημαντικότερες ελληνικές ανεξάρτητες δισκογραφικές εταιρίες των περασμένων δεκαετιών, η Lazy Dog Records, προέβη σε μια αξιόλογη κίνηση, ανεβάζοντας το σύνολο του καταλόγου της στο bandcamp.

H εταιρία από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, ξεκίνησε τη δράση της στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του ’80, αλλά γνώρισε εντυπωσιακή άνθηση στη δεκαετία του ’90, όταν και φρόντισε να φτάσουν στα στερεοφωνικά μας μερικά από τα καλύτερα εγχώρια άλμπουμ από καλλιτέχνες που αργότερα έγιναν “πρώτα ονόματα”.

Ενδεικτικά να αναφέρουμε ότι στον κατάλογο της Lazy Dog έκαναν τα πρώτα τους δισκογραφικά βήματα οι Raining Pleasure, οι Bokomolech, οι Ziggy Was, οι Lost Bodies, οι Γκούλαγκ, οι Ροδάμα, οι Στρογγυλό Κίτρινο κ.α., ενώ στο label αυτό κυκλοφόρησαν άλμπουμ ο Ντίνος Σαδίκης και τα Μωρά στη Φωτιά μεταξύ άλλων.

Παράλληλα, στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του 90, εξέδωσε κάποια άλμπουμ και συλλογές από σημαντικούς καλλιτέχνες της 80s post-punk era όπως οι Mecano, The Mob, Astronauts, Zounds κ.α.

Μέσω της δημοφιλούς μουσικής πλατφόρμας λοιπόν, έχουμε τη δυνατότητα να ακούσουμε, να κατεβάσουμε (δωρεάν ή με ελάχιστο αντίτιμο) και να αγοράσουμε σε φυσική μορφή (cd/βινύλιο), με ελάχιστο κόστος μερικά από τα άλμπουμ τα οποία έχουν σημαδέψει την ελληνική ανεξάρτητη σκηνή, τουλάχιστον στη δεκαετία του 90.

Αξιοσημείωτο είναι επίσης ότι στη σελίδα της Lazy Dog στο bandcamp θα βρείτε και αρκετές ψηφιοποιημένες κασέτες, οι οποίες εκδίδονται για πρώτη φορά σε ψηφιακό format.

Βουτάμε λοιπόν σε αυτό το “θησαυρό”, παίρνοντας δουλειά για το σπίτι για αρκετές εβδομάδες, ελπίζοντας το παράδειγμα της Lazy Dog να ακολουθήσουν κι άλλες “ανενεργές” ανεξάρτητες ελληνικές εταιρίες.

Koma & Bones are a three man outfit from the north west of Britain (Lancaster), comprising of the dj'ing duo Koma & Bones (Andy Duckmanton & Chris Kirkbride) and former drum and bass producer Proteus (Jude Sebastian). Brought together by a deep love of twisted breakbeat the trio started to produce the kind of records that wanted to play in their dj sets. The music is typical Nubreak. Big dancefloor hits are Powercut (Rewired remix), Morpheus and Speedfreak.

On the cover of Anastasis, Dead Can Dance’s first album in 16 years: a field of sunflowers, ripened, and then blackened, by the sun, standing with sad, slightly crowned heads. Less dead than dormant, the heads and stems will one day be chopped, but then via the roots, will return. For Anastasis is the Greek word for ‘resurrection’ and the seemingly dead will dance again.

“I thought Anastasis was a good title given our reunion,” explains Brendan Perry, who, with Lisa Gerrard, formed the band in Melbourne, Australia in 1981, releasing seven studio albums, and one live album, before going their own ways after 1996’s Spiritchaser. “Anastasis also means ‘in between two stages’,” he adds. “Regeneration comes with the next season.”

Anastasis is perfectly apt given how the album is an astonishing regeneration of the legendary beauty, power and spellbinding nature of the duo’s unique sound and vision. Age hasn’t withered DCD, not the passing of the years; if anything, the album sounds bolder, stronger, more confident in its vision. There’s surely no other musical force on the planet that sounds so stately and yet mesmeric; who combine so effortlessly the spiritual and the earthbound with music that’s not tied to any one century, but roams freely between the ages as well as the continents.

There have been sublime Gerrard and Perry solo albums before Spiritchaser and since that unintentional finale (album sessions for a follow-up were eventually abandoned), but there is something unbeatable about the combination of these two musical minds and voices; and two voices, don’t forget, that are brilliant forces of nature in their own right. Gerrard takes the lead on four tracks, “Anabasis”, “Agape”, “Kiko” and “Return of the She-King”, delivered in her wordless Glossolalia, while Perry fronts the remaining four of “Children of the Sun”, “Amnesia “, “Opium “ and “All In Good Time”, whose lyrics embrace the faiths and hopes of humankind, working through our limitations, weaknesses and habits.

“Children of the Sun” is the album’s ‘welcome to the show’, statement said Perry. The lyric addresses human evolution and how our genetic code is infused with ancient memory, right up to the present, celebrating nature – the Woodstock generation’s legacy. “Amnesia” weaves themes of humanity’s collective social amnesia – “how the victors always write history, and if we retain the real truth, we won’t keep repeating the same mistakes” – and how we depend on our memories for our humanity, and that the Greeks saw memory as the greatest muse of all.

“Opium”, says Perry, is more nihilistic, “that opiate state of mind, a form of depression, that traps you, whether it’s addiction or just circumstances. To not be able to choose a road as they all seem to lead nowhere.” But “All In Good Time” is a positive finale, underlining the old adage that good things come to those who wait; as we grow with age and experience, we see the benefit of not expecting everything to arrive at once.

A Greek word to represent the album is equally derived from the music’s origins. While Perry can hear echoes of DCD past, “from right across our catalogue,” he reckons the core of Anastasis can be found, “slap bang” in the near-Eastern Mediterranean, from Greece and Turkey across to North Africa. “The music I listen to and research becomes both unconsciously and consciously part of a new project, and for this album, I’ve been fascinated by the classic immutable elements of Greek culture, the depth of their music and their love for song that you don’t get as much in the west; the way they combine philosophy and love songs, and throw a bit of science in there too. I love the eastern influence that comes from being a crossroads between east and west, the kaleidoscopic mosaic of those fused cultures, while the further west you go, the more it’s a mono-cultural society.

“Also the instrumentation we choose to work with suggests what the music should become. “Opium” – which uses a Moroccan Sufi 6/8 rhythm – and “Anabasis” feature the Hang, a cross between a West Indian steel drum and a gamelan gong.”

Perry says the duo have been talking about another album since Dead Can Dance’s world tour of 2005. But that extensive tour was exhausting, and the incentive was lacking, so it was put on the backburner until calendars could again be synchronised – not so easy since Perry lives in the centre of Ireland (the land of his ancestors), where Anastasis was recorded (at Perry’s converted church studio Quivvy) and Gerrard lives in Southern Australia. Once upon a time, they left Melbourne for London, settling many floors up in a council block on the Isle of Dogs, putting whatever pittance they had into their music.

Signed by 4AD and releasing their first album in 1984, the duo drew rapturous reviews for albums that spanned neo-classical and folk across time and geography, each album selling to a progressively larger audience, the emotional drama of their coming to the attention of the San Francisco ballet, Hermes Perfume and a documentary on Hitler and Stalin; likewise motion pictures such as Heat, The Crossing Guard and Baraka. Gerrard developed her own solo film soundtracks – The Gladiator and The Insider, for example – while Perry worked on solo albums such as 1999’s Eye Of the Hunter and 2008’s Ark. The pair dissolved their physical relationship in the early ‘ 90s but something keeps them together – a bond of deep friendship and musical compatibility and understanding, and so Anastasis is born, and Dead Can Dance regenerated.

Free of any contractual commitments to 4AD, DCD have paired up with Play It Again Sam, who are releasing Anastasis in time for the duo’s most extensive world tour ever, which starts in Vancouver on August 9th and visits 4 continents throughout 2012 and 2013. And when the tour is over, Perry anticipates another DCD studio album will come together. The sunflower comes back season after season; there is no reason why Dead Can Dance, their spirit rekindled and their soul regenerated, won’t do exactly the same thing.

ISDN is a music album by experimental electronica artists The Future Sound of London which was released in two different versions in 1994 and 1995. The music on the album is edited together from various live broadcasts that the band had broadcast to radio stations all over the world using ISDN, which at the time was a relatively new technology. The band repeated the format in 1997 with the limited edition ISDN Show, another live album of ISDN broadcasts.

The album
Stylistically, the record features some of the ambience of their previous work, but brings in elements of hip-hop, trip-hop and acid jazz.[5]

The two released versions have different track listings and cover art. The limited edition, a 10,000-copy pressing released in December 1994, has a black cover. The later release, which first appeared in June 1995, has a white cover with black writing, and a different track listing.

The album contains numerous references to several films such as Repo Man in "Eyes Pop - Skin Explodes - Everybody Dead" is a line spoken by the character J. Frank Parnell, and the track "It's My Mind That Works" samples Miller saying "you know how everybody's into weirdness right now" and "it's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness." There are also samples from the sci-fi epic movie Aliens in the track "Far Out Son Of Lung And The Ramblings Of A Madman",[2] along with robotic sounds and laser-fire from the film "The Black Hole" in the track "Just a Fuckin Idiot", and samples from films Escape From New York, Predator and The Exorcist II scattered throughout the record.

This is the album that introduced the world to 2 of the biggest tracks in the Asian Underground scene. Talvin Singh's legendary 'Jaan' (featuring the sublime vocals of Amar) and State Of Bengal's drum & bass masterpiece 'Flight IC408'. On it's release most people did not understand this album. It was so different from what was around at the time. As a whole it's not a perfect album it has a couple of boring tracks, especially the out of place 'Distant God' & the rather mediocre 'K-Ascendant'. That said, other noteworthy tracks are Osmani Soundz classic 'Spiritual Master Key' & State Of Bengal's second offering 'Chittagong Chill'. The following year State Of Bengal released his debut album 'Visual Audio' which was somewhat inconsistent but is a good companion piece to this album. I was sad to hear State Of Bengal aka Sam Zaman recently passed away (19th May 2015). He was one of the forefathers of the Asian Underground scene. He is no longer with us but his music will live on forever. RIP Sam. From one of your biggest fans.
