Parents' tribute to stabbed boy

The parents of a 14-year-old schoolboy stabbed to death in south-east London have said their lives "will never be the same again".

Tim and Grace Idowu paid tribute to their son David who was attacked in Great Dover Street, Borough, on 19 June - he died on Monday.

A 16-year-old youth from Catford, south-east London, has been charged with attempted murder.

David is the 19th teenager to die violently in London this year.

David's father Tim, a 56-year-old bus driver, said: "He was the light of this house, organised and managed things.

"He was very good in computing. I never attended any courses in computing, David taught me at home to be computer literate. Our lives can never be the same again."

He added: "He believed change can only come through good world leaders and had recently visited Madam Tussaud's to have his picture taken with President Clinton who he admired and wanted to emulate."

David's mother Grace said: "David is with his heavenly father but we shall see him again."
